RESEARCH: Audience Feedback on Final Ancillary Products

I did some final audience research to make sure that my products were made to the best quality they could be and that my audience could see a clear brand identity between all of the products and also that all the products adhered to the typical codes and conventions of existing products. All the result came back extremely positive, confirming that no more work needed to be done on them.

RESEARCH: Audience Feedback

RESEARCH: Digipack Draft Audience Feedback

Once I had created my first draft of my digipak I asked members of my focus group and members from my target audience for their opinions and where they think there is room for improvement.
They all liked the product and mentioned strengths of it however there were some improvements to be made such as putting the cloudy background behind the CD Disc aswell as the girls and also to change the positioning of 'Storm' on the CD Disc. I will take these suggestions into consideration when altering my digipak.

RESEARCH: Picture options feedback

When planning my digipak and advert I went through all the pictures from the shoot and short listed the options for the pictures with three for each product I then asked my target audience to write down which they thought would be the most appropriate. Majority said that the first image was the best for my advert and the third picture was the best for my digipak.

I used this as a template to show the artists what I was looking for as the end result of my magazine cover, so that I made the shooting process more time effective because the artist knew what I was looking for so didn't need to waste time on set planning.

PLANNING: For Filming

I made a group chat with the girls that were going to be the 'artists' and then I had to organise what days we could all make. I made sure that we had two consecutive days to be filming so that once started we had all got in to the swing of it and knew what we were aiming for, and could just on with it rather than wasting time or leaving days in between for anyone to possibly lose focus of the end product.

Before I met up with the girls i had printed off the lyrics of my chosen song and then started annotating it with ideas for the narrative that would match the lyrics and ideas for different shot types and what would be effective. This was helpful when it came to actually filming because using this along with my storyboard allowed me to show the artists what I wanted so that we didn't waste time coming up with ideas.

A week before we started filming I had met up with the artists to organise what outfits they would each be wearing, this again was time effective because then when it came to filming everyone knew what they had to bring and that everyone would match with each other and also that everything fit them so that we eliminated any wardrobe malfunctions before we even started.

PLANNING: Storyboard for my music video

I created a rough storyboard of what I plan for my music video to look like and incorporate. This was a time saving activity because I have shared it with my focus group for their opinion, and the artists so when it comes to filming they already have an idea of what I am going for so that no time is wasted explaining or coming up with ideas.

PLANNING: Seeking permission to use my chosen song

I contacted Warner Brothers, as this is Dua Lipa's record label, to ask for permission to use New Rules for my coursework, to ensure that I didn't breach any legal boundaries of using the media text.

RESEARCH: Picking my song for my video

I spent a lot of time watching music videos before I decided what song I wanted to use for my music video I made a short list of potential options and also from the videos I had done textual analysis on.
Demi Lovato- Sorry not Sorry was one option that I had short listed as I thought the lyrics have enough of a narrative for me to be able to be creative with what footage I get, to be able to adapt and create a narrative of my own.

Fergie- Glamorous was another one of my options as again it has a  narrative that enables you to adapt it to your footage, however this song has a very high production value which makes it unrealistic for me as a student to be  able to make anything on that level and the lyrics being about a glamorous lifestyle means that the footage would have to be glamorous and without the production budget that they would have had it makes it very difficult, considering the mise-en-scene  is set on a private jet..

Dua Lipa- New Rules- After researching several different songs I found that this would be the most appropriate and the song I Could make look the most professional due to its fairly low production value in comparison to other pop music videos there I could create a mise-en-scene that was engaging and gratifying without needing the production value.

RESEARCH: Target Audience Questionnaire

100% of the results when I asked my target audience were that the music video is Pop so I will look further into different pop songs and pick which will be the most appropriate. When I asked what kind of talent I should used 100% of the results were female, so I will definitely use a female and most probably have a girl group because 85.7% voted for a girl group, however I will research into codes and conventions of both solo female artists and female group artists. I will use both inside and outside shots when shooting my footage as 100% of my results were for both, this will keep my video interesting. When I asked my target audience if I should create a narrative 100% said yes, therefore I will definitely create some sort of narrative and research deeper into the different codes and conventions for different narratives within pop music videos. I will most probably incorporate empowerment into the narrative as 85.7% of the results were for a empowerment narrative. Female empowerment is a current movement so will be successful in attracting my target audience.
